Although they may not necessarily be paintings of Huangshan scenery, the images from his memory were reflected to one extent or another when he took up the brush. This work on Huangshan-related scenery places the main mountain in the left side of the composition, the mountainside enveloped front and back with clouds and mists that extend along the mountains in the right side, creating an interesting contrast of solid and void. The small cottage of a recluse at the foot of the mountain also seems to float in the clouds with the trees covered in light washes of blue for a magical scene. Another blank area of white appears below the cottage to present a sense of bottomless depth to the valley.(20100409)
