袁江畫風,氣勢雄偉,描繪山岩的皴法尤其詭異,於清初山水畫派中別具一格。本幅以剛健之筆,畫雨後山家,大地清新。剛中含柔,頗富詩意。

Yuan Chiang (18th c.)
Ch’ing Dynasty
Yuan Chiang, a native of Yangchow in Kiangsu, served as a court painter in the Yang-hsin Palace during the reign of the Yung-cheng emperor (r.1723-1735). In landscape painting, he studied the styles of Sung (960-1279) masters, and his architectural painting was especially skillful.
Yuan Chiang’s painting has a bold and heroic manner, and his texturing methods are highly unusual. In early Ch’ing landscape painting, he pursued his own particular path. This work portrays a mountain village after rain. The air appears clean and fresh as the mountains possess a gentle, almost poetic, feeling.
This painting was donated to the Museum by Mr. Huang Chun-pi.
