@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@ Wang Chien was a native of T’ai-ts’ang in Kiangsu. He was the grandson of Wang Shih-chen of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Well versed in the art and theory of painting, Wang Chien is considered one of the Six Great Masters of the Early Ch’ing.
It is said that in Wang Chien’s painting the brush reveals the tip in each stroke and the ink is used for rich, maximum effect. His trees are dense but not overly intricate and complicated, and his hills and valleys extend into the deep distance without losing a sense of coherence. This painting after Chu-jan perfectly illustrates this traditional critique of Wang Chien’s painting. The rich, elegant atmosphere is a hallmark of Wang Chien’s art. This painting was presented to the Museum by Mr. Huang Chun-pi.
