@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@ Wang Ch’en, a native of T’ai-ch’ang in Kiangsu, was a Presented Scholar in the Ch’ien-lung era (1736-1795) and Prefect of Yung-chou (modern Yung-chou, Hunan). Related to the famed landscape painters Wang Shih-min and Wang Yűan-ch’i of previous generations, he followed the family tradition, taking the Four Masters of the Yűan as his models. Though often using dry brushwork, he still imparted a sense of elegant and succinct richness.
This work donated by Mr. Li Shih-tseng shows the scenery around Wu River in Yung-chou. The roller-coaster-like mountains dotted with trees and plants imbue a sense of elegant tranquility. Done in 1790 for a friend, the inscriptions here by Wang Wen-chih before and after are equally beautiful.
