此圖摹自榆林窟第三窟西壁。白描人物,文殊騎獅居中,菩薩天王拱護,雲影髣髴。背景所作雲山,仿馬遠筆法。本幅乃張大千先生捐贈。
@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@Chang Yuan’s sobriquet was Dai-chien. He was originally named Ch’uan, but later this was changed to Yuan. His style name was Chi-yuan. Although his ancestral home was in Fan-yÜ, Canton province, he was born in Nei-chiang, Szechuan. From his early youth he studied painting with his mother. Later he was taught by Li Jui-ch’ing and Tseng Hsi. In his early period, Chang Dai-chien followed the style of the Ch’ing dynasty master Shih-t’ao. During the War of Resistance against Japan, 1937-1948, he traveled to Tun-huang and other Buddhist cave sites. He spent over two years studying and copying the paintings there, contributing a great deal to the enhancement and glorification of the Buddhist paintings at Tun-huang.
A copy of part of the west wall, cave 3 at Yu -lin, Kansu, this painting is in a pure ink outline style called pai-miao. In the center, Mañjuśrī rides a lion, accompanied and protected by other Bodhisattvas, Heavenly Kings, and so forth. The whole party sails over the open expanse on clouds. The cloudy mountains in the background are in the style of the Sung dynasty master Ma Yuan.
This painting was donated to the Museum by Chang Dai-chien.
