In 456, during the Northern Wei dynasty, Emperor T’ai-wu-ti-at the behest of the Taoist K’ou-ch’ien-had a new temple constructed at Mt. Sung. Dedicating a stele for this event, it became known as the “Mt. Sung Spirit Temple Stele”. This copy-bequeathed by T’ai Chin-nung to the Museum-was done by T’ai around the autumn of 1986. The calligraphic style is similar to the “Ts’uan-pao-tzu Stele”. The brushwork is angular, yet in the archaic quality is a great sense of delicate beauty.
