In later years, he combined them with standard script to create a single style. This couplet was done at 57 and has the grandness and power of Yen's standard script. Ho's centered brushwork is slightly trembling to create lines soft yet tough, revealing his underlying study of seal and clerical scripts. The characters are relaxed and confident. The places where the brush stopped appear archaic while those where they connect lively and spirited. Thus, in the awkwardness is a sense of liveliness that attracts continuous viewing. This work was donated by Messrs. Tann Po-yu and Tann Chi-fu.
