Lost for years, it was unearthed in 1789 during the Qing dynasty, but only the upper half had survived. It is now preserved at Jining’s Tieda Temple. In this famous inscription of the Cao-Wei, the character style follows late Han mature clerical script. The characters are exacting, the brushwork angular and strong, reflecting the straightforward style of Han clerical script. Weng Fanggang lavished praise on the calligraphy here, stating, “Simplicity exudes from the strong force of this stele, the rise and fall of brushwork well regulated for spirited radiance.”@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@ The full name of this work is “Stele of the Han Prefecture Chief Fan of Lujiang” or “Stele of Official Fan.” The stele was erected in 235 during the Wei in Rencheng (modern Jining, Shandong).
