He is known for his bird-and-flower paintings, basing his art on the style of Chou Chih-mien. Later he painted landscapes. This painting depicts two chicks resting under wild flowers. One of them cries after seeing two bugs on grass. The countryside subject of this painting exhibits the artist’s cleverness. The short and energetic brushstroke heightens the liveliness of the scene. The painting is the eighth leaf from the Album of Fan Paintings of the Ming Dynasty.
