@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@Chang Tsung-ts’ang, native to Soochow, Kiang-su, submitted an album of 16 views of the Soochow area for imperial review upon the Ch’ien-lung Emperor’s Southern Inspection Tour in 1751.
Construction for the Summer Mountain Retreat in Ch’eng-te began in 1703. In this album of 36 views there, the Ch’ien-lung Emperor wrote an inscription on the front facing leaf in 1752, expounding on the ancestral emperors’ simplicity and naturalness. Each leaf has a five-character regulated verse of praise. On display here are five scenes: “The Comfort of Misty Waves,” “Spirit Fungus Path to a Cloudy Bank,” “Refreshing Without the Heat of Summer,” “Mountain Hall of Extended Fragrance,” and “Waters Fragrant, Peaks Elegant.”
