In northern T’ai-an County, Shantung, it was in antiquity the site of imperial visits for sacrificing to the heavens and earth. The Book of Poetry mentions that “Mount T’ai is craggy (yen), looked up to by Lu,” which is perhaps why it is also known as “Tai-yen”. This album is of scenic sites at Mount T’ai.
