@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@Chiang T’ing-hsi, tzu (style name) Yang-sun and Yu-chun, hao (sobriquet) Hsi-ku and Nan-sha, was a native of Ch’ang-shu, Kiang-su province. He served as a Grand Secretary in the Wen-hua Hall. Before taking public office, Chiang T’ing-hsi was a good friend of Ku Hsueh-p’o and enjoyed painting from nature. But after becoming an official, his paintings were more carefully executed and only done occasionally. Since most of his work was collected in the Imperial Palace, few examples of his paintings are still extant.
Two leaves are chosen for this exhibition, each inscribed with a poem by the emperor K’ang-hsi. One depicts peonies in bloom done on a blue paper with splashed-gold. The other represents orchids blow by the wind done on a pink paper with splashed-gold. The orchid is done in fine ink-outline and filled with color-wash.
Also displayed here are two Sung-hua stone slabs with the emperor Ch’ien-lung’s inscription. One carved with peony blossoms and the other with orchids. The style of the flowers on the stone slabs resembles that of Chiang T’ing-hsi’s representation, revealing the influence of painting on the craft arts.
