@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@A native of Chang-shu, Kiangsu, Chiang T’ing-hsi (style name Yang-sun, Yu-chun; sobriquet Hsi-ku, Nan-sha), served as Grand Academician in the Wen-hua Hall. Before taking public office, he enjoyed painting directly from life with his close friend, Ku Hsueh-p’o. After assuming office, however, his style became much more refined, resulting in fewer paintings. Since he painted for the court only, few of his works have survived outside the palace collection.
In this particular album of bird-and-flower subjects, we see influence from the West in the artist’s manner of painting forms using highlight and shading. Volume is more important here than traditional limes.
