He was a skilled poet, calligraphy and painter. Having taken the style of the contemporary artist Huang Chien as a model for his landscape paintings, he was able to develop his own style. Horizontally arranged clouds and fog divide the painting into two sections. In the lower section Yung has given us a bird’s-eye-view of a pine shaded pavilion and a water-village situated on a willow bank. The surface of the lake is tranquil and the atmosphere of the painting is similar to that created in the works of Chao Ling-jang（fl. 1070-1100）. In the upper section, lofty distant peaks resembling jade kuei are arranged in a line. Yung has used mineral and vegetable green pigments to achieve a sense of verdant growth.
