In the middle is a boat full of travelers making their way to the bank at the front of the scroll. In the latter part is a skiff moored at the bank with architecture there, and at the end is a temple structure. The brushwork here is delicate and the washes of ink and light colors intermingled, fully expressing clouds and mist in the landscape while creating a light and elegant atmosphere that reflects the influence of the Wu School of painting. The old attribution is to the early artist Li Cheng, but this work is actually unrelated to him. Instead, it was probably done in the 17th century, as it reveals the style of the early Qing dynasty painter Lu Yuan.(20120408)
