He excelled at copying ancient paintings and was admired by Tung Ch’i-ch’ang. This work was done on gold-flecked paper, giving the ink a most and rich quality. A rectangular album leaf, to the right is a stream with a moored skiff in front of the cave, suggesting a scene outside of the Peach Blossom Spring. The angler with oar, upon going through the cave, emerges in a land with peach blossoms everywhere. To the left, the angler converses with the villagers of Peach Blossom Spring. Though distant views, the scenes are expansive and familiar. This is the 14th leaf from Album of Paintings by Ming Artists.
