He was also able to catch the spirit of the aquatic plants and fishes in his paintings. This leaf was painted with fingers instead of a brush. An old man leaning against a staff is gazing toward the sky on a flat river bank, while, high above flying geese traverse the air in formation. In this picture the colors are simple and elegant and the stroke lines are dense and thick. The picture has achieved an elegant quality far above the common finger-paintings of the days.
