舊傳馬遠所作,若從風格與筆法來看,應是後代畫家偽託其名的作品。
@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@ In this work, the branches of a pine tree twist and turn downward, all but devoid of needles. The branches and trunk appear as tough as twisted steel, bearing vestiges of the so-called “dragged branch method” and one-corner composition of Ma Yuan. Rocks and slopes were outlined only in light ink without texture strokes, and washes of white impart a sense of purity. Features of the building were not done with a ruler but with trembling brush lines in freehand. Inside, a scholar and attendant huddle with hands clasped by a stove trying to keep warm, suggesting the wintry cold. This work attributed to Ma Yuan appears stylistically to be by a later artist with Ma’s name added to it. It is the 9th leaf from “Album of Collected Paintings Through the Ages”
