The outlines of the rock are done in the "flying white" method, the trees like that of seal script, and the branches in the Northern Sung (960-1127) Li-kuo "crab-claw" manner. The brush method of the trees and rocks is spirited and the leaves are done in that of the wave-like strokes of clerical script. All methods work together to give the painting a strong calligraphic flavor. This painting does not have a signature or seal of the artist.
