The lady to the left holds a large fan, while the younger one to the right seems to discourage the boy from getting too close to the toad. Freshly picked calamus and pomegranate flowers are laid on the ground, indicating the season of the Dragon Boat Festival. The painter has arranged this group of figures so that they interact convincingly. The children in the center serve as the focal point, and their activity imbues the work with liveliness. The woman with the fan appears quite elegant, standing there with exceptional dignity and grace.
