The lightness of the birds seems to bear little impact on the branches. The work of an exceptional bird-and-flower painter of the Sung dynasty, the forms here are defined with great precision. Not only is the painting technique exceptionally fine, but the forms are also quite realistic and full of spirit and life. For example, the artist expressed both the flexibility of the bamboo and the animated relationship between the birds. The result is a scene that draws the viewer into the painting.
