A branch of gardenia flowers fills the air with its fragrance. The scene is completed with rushes, grasses, and wild chrysanthemums growing around the rock. The bark of the tree is wrinkled and gnarled, creating the impression of hoary age and mottled colors. The flowers and plants are painted in the technique of "double outlines" filled with color. The lines are vibrant and flowing, and the cool blue-green colors of the rock, placed next to the bright blossoms and leaves, create an effect of luxuriant beauty.
