One is clothed in leaves and holds a brush, another is depicted with bare shoulders and dishevelled hair,and the other holds a scroll. The brushwork involved in rendering the texture strokes for the rocks and pine trees is delicate and realistic. The expressions of the figures appear calm and suggest an air of cultivation. Although this work bears neither seal nor signature of the artist, it has been traditionally attributed to Yen Wen -kuei, a native of Wu-hsing who served as Attendant (chih-hou) in the painting academy in the reign of Emperor T'ai-tsung (r. 976-997) and excelled at landscape painting.@#@@#@內容簡介（英文）@#@Three immortals are seated in a rocky cave in the shade of pines. One, clothed in leaves, holds a brush; a second is bare-shouldered with disheveled hair; and the third, wearing a scholar's robe but no cap, holds a scroll of blank paper. The painting is not signed; it was formerly attributed toYen Wen-kuei, but the style is that of the Southern Sung. It may have been painted in the12th century. As it bears no relation toYenWen-kuei's style, we have omitted the attribution.
