(20121017)@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@ Chaokui (original surname Wen; name Guo; style name Lun’an; posthumous title Chan Master Wenjue), a native of Changzhou in Jiangsu, was a monk-painter. Son of Wen Zhenheng (1585-1645), Wen Zhengming’s great-grandson, on the Kangxi Emperor’s southern inspection he performed meritorious service. Summoned to Beijing, he was presented a pagoda at Mt. Yuquan. Gifted at poetry and painting, his landscapes mostly depict exotic scenery he had visited, his compositions new and different. This work in clerical script is a eulogy praising eternal life for the “Buddha Mother Empress.” Since Kangxi’s mother, Empress Xiaokangzhang, died young at 24, perhaps this work was to congratulate Grand Empress Dowager Xiaozhuangwen’s birthday.
