Also of lofty talent, Wen Peng continued to work hard, achieving excellent results as well. Wen specialized in all the script types, with his attainment in cursive being particularly profound. He was able to reach the archaic styles of the Wei and Jin while transcending them at the same time, using an untrammeled brush to do large cursive script. This album set transcribes the famous “Preface to the Prince Teng Pavilion” by Wang Bo (649-676) of the Tang dynasty. The brushwork is completely within the conventions of the Two Wangs (Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi), the dots and strokes bending and lifting to support and echo each other with emotion, the resulting rhythm not being inferior to that of Wen Zhengming.
