He excelled at both painting and calligraphy, being a leader in both at the time. His running script follows after the Two Wangs and is deep in the spirit harmony of Chin calligraohers. He had a major influence in later painting and calligraphy. The force of this work is clear and free as the running script here has a rounded harmony and flowing spirit to it. With a sense of warmth to the ink and softness to the features, we see the beauty of his easy-going and elegant style. This is from the album Poetry and Letters by Chao Meng-fu.
