(20110710)@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@ Li Dongyang (style name Binzhi, sobriquet Xiya) was a native of Chaling. An important official of the middle Ming dynasty, he served the court for fifty years and enjoyed fame for his integrity. His writing was classic and fluid, and he also excelled at seal and clerical script. An avid connoisseur as well, his Anthology of the Huailu Hall still survives.
When red peonies planted in a flowerbed were eaten by an old crane, Li was inspired by the void to compose this poem, which he presented to the Assistant Prefect. At the end of the scroll is his inscription in which he says it was “scribbled while half drunk.” The entire scroll is in linked cursive script, the brushwork liberated and revealing a strong and flying momentum.(20110710)
