@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@Chang Pi, a native of what is now Shanghai, was a representative artist of the Yun-chien School of calligraphy. Having passed the civil service exams, he went on to serve as Prefect of Nan-an (in Kiangsi). Of an upright and straightforward personality, he often expressed concern for the country in his poetry and writings. Likewise, his semi-cursive script was also unrestrained and straightforward.
This handscroll of calligraphy was done between the ages of 61 and 62. It is composed of letters and poems written to Chang's friend Ssu-ma Yin. The brushwork is relaxed and natural like a master who returns to a simple style closer to heart. He pursues an unrestrained manner that departs from the elegant "Academy Style" practiced at court.
