@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@Tung Ch'i-ch'ang, a native of Kiangsu, obtained his chin-shih degree in 1589 and went on to become Minister of Rites. He was a great talent and excelled at painting and calligraphy. Also a collector and outstanding connoisseur, his semi-standard script calligraphy was considered the best of the time.
This work is undated, but the "Grand Guardian of the Heir Apparent in the Ch'ing Palace' seal indicates it was done after 1634, the year Tung was given this position. The brushwork faithfully follows the original, but also has a rawness in its maturity. Tung altered the random structure of the characters in the original by executing them neatly but did not lose the pattern of Yen's standard script.
