(20120713)@#@@#@內容簡介(英文)@#@ The original engraving here, also known as the “Wufeng Second Year Engraved Stone,” was discovered in the 1191 renovation of the Qufu Temple of Confucius. Consisting of 13 characters, it reads, “Fourth day, sixth month, 34th year of Lu; second year of Wufeng (56 BCE).” Wufeng is the reign name of the Western Han emperor Xuandi, the other date referring to King Luxiao. This work is representative of Western Han clerical script, tracing its roots back to Qin clerical script and fusing elements with seal script. The characters, not quite squarish and exhibiting obvious wave-like elements, reveal strong overtones of seal script. The vertical stroke in “year (nian 年)” is particularly elongated, similar to the characters on excavated Han dynasty slips.
