“Tampan" is a ceremonial cloth with boat patterns originating from the Lampung Province in Indonesia. This one comprises of hand-twisted cotton yarn into a square cloth with a boat pattern woven with red weft. Unlike the usual figurative designs, this piece has dozens of human figures interspersed between the lines and uses simple geometric designs for highly stylized compositions.
